Fiber optic cabling handles the high-bandwidth, long-distance connections copper can't. It's the standard for backbone runs between floors, links between IDF closets, and building-to-building network connections.

We install and terminate both single-mode fiber (long distance, high bandwidth) and multi-mode fiber (shorter runs within a building), and can test each strand after installation to confirm signal quality.

Fiber Optic Cabling Installation — Frequently Asked Questions

When should we use fiber instead of CAT6?
Fiber makes sense for backbone runs between IDF closets, distances beyond copper's 100-meter limit, building-to-building links, and any run that needs bandwidth beyond what CAT6/6A can carry.
What's the difference between single-mode and multi-mode fiber?
Single-mode fiber uses a small core and supports very long distances with high bandwidth — used for backbone and campus runs. Multi-mode fiber uses a larger core, is less expensive to terminate, and is typically used for shorter runs inside a single building.
Do you terminate the fiber on-site or use pre-terminated cables?
Both. For standard runs we typically field-terminate connectors, but pre-terminated trunk cables are a good option when the run length is known and downtime needs to be minimized.
Do you test fiber after installation?
Yes. We test each strand with a light source and power meter, and can perform OTDR testing on request for longer runs where fault location matters.
Can you add fiber to an existing building?
Yes. We work with existing conduit, cable trays, and riser pathways to add fiber runs to buildings that already have copper cabling in place.
